Join us for our First Fall Wine Dinner with Marquis Sauvage, owner of BurnCottage Vineyard in Central Otago, New Zealand. From growing up on a farm in Kansas to owning and running one of New Zealand's top wine estates, Marquis has led a remarkable life so far. He grew up on his family's farm in Oberlin, Kansas, has owned successful wine distribution companies in Colorado, Illinois, Nevada and Texas, Now, along with his family, Marquis owns and manages the Koehler-Ruprecht winery in Pfalz, Germany and BurnCottage Vineyard in Central Otago, New Zealand.
Burn Cottage Vineyard was planted by Marquis and his family beginning in 2003. They focus on Pinot Noir with a little bit of Gruner Veltliner and Riesling. The farming is biodynamic and has been since day one with the aim of producing uniquely site expressive wines. The legendary Sonoma Pinot maker, Ted Lemon, owner of Littorai winery (and former winemaker at Domaine Roulot in Burgundy) makes the wines. In a short time, Burn Cottage has made its name as one of the top producers in New Zealand and the wines measure along some of the best in the world. We are thrilled to introduce them to the Missouri market at Tannin!
