Our first wine dinner of the Autumn will feature Jill Matthiasson of Matthiasson Winery with a unique opportunity to enjoy library releases and mini-verticals of some of the winery's top wines. Jill and her husband, Steve, founded Matthiasson Winery as a realization of their longtime dream of owning their own farm and producing their own wines. The Matthiassons' backgrounds, as agriculturalists and viticultural consultants (Steve has worked for famous wineries Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Araujo, Spottswoode, Hall), has paved the way to the unique opportunities that they have taken full advantage in both acquiring their own vineyard land as well as purchasing grapes from some of their most unique neighbors.
The Matthiassons make excellent wines from a wide range of grapes. Their passion is evident in unique Napa expressions of northern Italian grape varieties like Ribolla Gialla and Refosco, while their excellence can be measured by benchmark Napa varieties like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their style is classic Napa Valley: full flavored, expressive wines that are fresh, elegant and balanced. This dinner will be a unique opportunity to taste the Matthiasson's wines from current vintages as well as their library.
